Dante Sequeira was chosen as a recipient for the 2019 Massachusetts State Football Coaches Association “Courageous Player Award”.  This is a great honor for sure. Dante is clearly a Core Value player practicing Perseverance throughout! Congratulations Dante Sequeira!


Congratulations to Carolyn Cooper, Chris Govang, Roz Lupaczyk, Olivia Oestreicher, Deran Quinty, and Qeanu Smith for being chosen to participate and perform in the 34th Annual Honors Band Clinic  hosted by UMass Amherst this past weekend.

We are extremely happy to announce ASRHS teacher, Mrs. Wittmier, will also receive the Partners in Excellence Teaching Award for her exemplary work with her Advanced Placement students.  Mrs. Wittmier teaches AP Literature & Composition. On Wednesday, April 10, 2019, ASRHS English teacher, Mrs. Capasso will receive the Partners in Excellence Teaching Award for her exemplary work with her Advanced Placement students. The 2018 Advanced Placement (AP) scores in Language and Composition significantly increased from an average score of 2.625 to an average score of 3.483, thus reflecting an increase of .858 in one year.  Mrs. Capasso is one of twenty-nine Massachusetts AP teachers who will be honored this year!  Congratulations to Mrs. Capasso and her students!

Flexible seating in Mrs. Silva's classroom! The students can choose from floor seating with a pillow, crate seats, wiggle cushions, standing tables with stools or scoop rockers. The students are really enjoying it!

Mrs. Lynch’s Grade 2 students engaged in a project-based learning activity

Mrs. Lynch’s Grade 2 students engaged in a project-based learning activity based on a story they read in their Language Arts class, and their study of properties of solid matter. They had to create hats based on the following criteria:

Repellant of water
Comfortability
Able to withstand strong wind

Great job, students! We have budding inventors among us!



Middle School Students Using Google Expeditions...thank you ASEF!

Middle school students in Mrs. Dodge’s science class using the virtual realty google glasses to investigate the earth’s surface and volcanic activity. These awesome glasses were purchased for the middle school by the Ayer Shirley Education Foundation (ASEF). Thank you, ASEF! The students and teachers love them! The students get to experience and explore the world right from the classroom!
